Heatmap
The Heatmap is a feature in your proposal statistics that shows what caught the client's eye while they were viewing your proposal.
What is a Heatmap?
A Heatmap is a graphical representation of where the recipient's attention was focused. Colors are overlaid directly on your proposal: the longer a client lingered on a given section with their mouse, the warmer the color. Areas that were barely noticed stay cool (blue), while the ones that truly caught their interest glow red.
How to read the colors:
Red and warm tones - the areas the client gave the most attention to.
Blue and cool tones - the sections they merely skimmed over with their cursor.
In short: the warmer the color, the more attention that section attracted.
What the Heatmap shows (and what the statistics don't)
The statistics will tell you that a client spent quite a bit of time on a given page. The Heatmap will show you that they focused their attention on the table listing your services and completely skipped the section about your company. That's a big difference, because with the Heatmap you can:
see not only how much time the client spent on the page, but what specifically drew their eye,
check whether the client clicked any links in your proposal (e.g. to a calendar or a website),
learn which elements attract attention the most, and build your next proposals around them.
Where to find the Heatmap?
1. Go to the statistics of the selected proposal.
2. Under the detailed statistics, click the "Heatmap" button to overlay the heatmap onto the document - page by page.
Everything is in one place, so a complete picture of the client's behavior is always at hand.
Frequently asked questions
1. How do I read the colors on the Heatmap?
The warmer the color, the more attention the client gave that spot. Sections barely noticed stay cool (blue), while the ones they lingered on the longest glow red.
2. Does the Heatmap work on older proposals?
The feature collects data from the moment it was introduced - it doesn't work retroactively. But the proposal itself can be older: what matters is that someone opens it now. As soon as a client opens your proposal (even one sent earlier), you'll see the result.
3. How is the Heatmap different from Session Replay?
The Heatmap is a summary: a single image showing where attention was focused overall on a given page. Session Replay is a step-by-step playback of how the client moved through the proposal. The Heatmap tells you where, and Session Replay tells you how.
